We are so thankful for the two women at the Hamilton Bus Garage who came into our classroom to teach us about bus safety. We watched a short video on bus safety and then had the opportunity to practice these safety tips on a real bus!
1. We walk slowly onto the bus only if the bus has stopped and the doors are open. The bus driver will tell us when it is safe to get on.
2. The kids are on the bus! I was asked to wait outside, but the kids were busy learning to sit on their bottoms, face the front of the bus, keep their hands and legs inside the bus and out of the aisle, and also to listen to the bus driver.
3. Here comes the first group out the bus! We learned to walk straight off the bus and take 10 big steps away.
4. After we take 10 big steps straight off of the bus, we then need to take 10 big steps in front of the bus to make sure we aren't too close to the bus and that the bus driver can see us too!
5. We look at the bus driver's paddle and if it shows the man walking, we can walk! We make sure we look left and look right, look left and look right, look left and look right, until we are safely on the other side of the street.
6. Here comes group two!
7. Group two practices taking 10 steps off the bus and 10 steps in front of the bus. They looked both ways and safely made it across the street!
We did it! All of the kiddos did a wonderful job following directions and practicing how to be safe around busses. Thank you Hamilton Bus Garage for helping to keep us safe!

All of the kids seemed to really love it- especially the ones who are typically walkers! I'm so glad Drew had fun on the bus! :)
